Communications - Educational Training Online

Communication takes places across many mediums and students can pursue an education in a variety of programs. Online training teaches students the foundational types of the industry, which includes mass communications, wireless communications, and mass communications. Accredited online colleges and universities provide students with degree programs in each area.

Training online can be entered from the certificate to doctoral degree level. Some areas like media communication may not be available at all degree levels in which case students can take certain courses that can be applied to further study at a later time. Many students that want to gain a full degree in areas like media communications go on to train at traditional colleges. The level of a degree program determines the length of education. For example, a certificate program takes approximately four months and a bachelor's program takes about four years. Students can follow their passion into degree programs that teach them how to become:JournalistsAdvertisersElectrical Engineering TechniciansFilmmakersTelecommunications AnalystsNetwork TechniciansPhotographers

Other specialized careers can be entered after students complete a focused education online. With the field being comprised of the latest advances in technology students can expect to gain a complete understanding of how communication works.

Communications - Educational Training Online

Mass communications is one of the most well-known educational study paths. This type of communication is used every day from a broadcaster on a radio station to an advertisement on a billboard. Online education in mass communications integrates the use of theory with practical experience to help students enter the field prepared. Students can choose a degree program with a concentration that can include journalism, advertising, or broadcasting. A broadcasting degree major will study how to create and disseminate a message via the radio or television. Online courses teach students how to write in broadcast style as well as use the industry's technical equipment.

Another area of study that can be entered is telecommunications. Students will take courses online that prepare them to be a part of communication production by using video, audio, or multimedia technologies. The field is broken down into several major aspects that allow communication through different mediums to take place. Wireless networks, satellite systems, and cable systems make up some core curriculum areas in a typical undergraduate degree. Students that enter online training at the graduate level will learn advanced techniques and theories to help motivate them to discover new ways to use advancing technology. Other available training options include visual communications and media communications,

Students should research the industry to find the right field of study and program that matches their career goals. Completing an accredited communications program online allows students to work from home while gaining the knowledge they need to step into a career. Full accreditation is provided by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (http://www.accsc.org) to schools and colleges that can provide students with a quality education. Training dives into the heart of the chosen field and prepares students to enter the profession ready.

Your Dream Home in Belize!

A dream home in this tropical paradise can now be easily realized.

After identifying your needs, and what it is exactly that you want, it would be time to locate a good piece of property from a reputable developer with a proven track record. Do we want to live in the city or opt for a residence in the countryside? You could look around for available sites, check the market prices, and settle for a bargain. The key is, not to rush. Choose a place, where you would really love to reside.

Make sure that the land you purchase can accommodate the construction of the home of your dreams. Now that you have our own piece of land in Belize, you could look forward to the kind of construction you would like to have.

Your Dream Home in Belize!

House Plans

Remember, Belize is a warm, tropical country, and no wonder a covered verandah is very popular in this part. It would be ideal to have one, so you could sit out and enjoy. Check on the air flow, especially where the natural breeze is found. Plan for cross ventilation.

Air-conditioners and ceiling fans are easily available through-out Belize at most hardware stores or home centers.

Type of Construction

Choose between concrete and wood.

Wood is somewhat less expensive than concrete, however maintenance at times will surely increase the costs. Wooden homes are a bit cooler during the summer heat, but are very vulnerable to inclement weather. For quick construction, you could always go in for a Mennonite home built from wood. These can be prepared on site, or can be purchased at a low cost. They are pre-built in the Cayo District and then later reassembled on-site within a weeks' time.

Concrete is a little more expensive, but requires very little maintenance. Concrete construction also takes a period of time. You would have to contact an architect, prepare blue-print or use pre-approved plans from a reputable community developer, certainly the easiest of all your options. A building contractor must be appointed.

Utilities like water and power must be provided for. Again, make certain that you buy from a reputed developer who either has already installed the community infrastructure or one that guarantees the completion within a reasonable time frame.

Water

If a service is available, it simply has to be called for, and get connected. Or else, wells are cheap, easy and efficient. Most farm and country property owners seek this route. There is nothing like having our own source of water supply. Rainwater harvesting is also widely practiced in Belize.

Electricity

If you are having power lines around you property then it is good or you could always contact Belize Electricity Limited (BEL), and get connected. Solar Power Units, Gas or Diesel Generators are other choices.

Butane gas is used for house-hold appliances.

Belize Real Estate

When purchasing property, you could make use of plans for free, or even get them modified per your requirements. Contractors suggested by them are good to work with. The properties developed by them are also good.

A good and trustworthy friend in a foreign land is a blessing.

The Communities in Belize

Community dwelling comes with a lot of advantages. It has most of the infrastructure required for day to day living efficiently cared for. Then, it is also economical to build a home here, with most facilities being jointly acquired and provided. Getting a home in a community is much cheaper, and with better access to utilities.

Homeowner's Associations are in place for common property management and sensible deed regulations. The communities in Belize are having all that you require.

If you have just experienced a hurricane that left your area temporarily without phone and electrical service you probably won't need a world wide radio communication setup with the accompanying extensive antenna system. But if you just went through an event that caused Continent wide destruction that will take months or even years to repair you may need a long reaching more complex system of communication with all its supporting elements.

For the purpose of this article I will layout what I believe may be required for two very different scenarios. Scenario one is a short term temporary phone outage lasting a few days to a couple weeks and the second one being a long term total communication failure.

Emergency Communications

For short term local communication needs there are several options available. The best known probably being the good old citizen band 40 channel AM transceiver. FRS and GMRS hand held walkie talkies can also be used if you prefer but don't believe the hype about the 17 mile range. In real world situations you are lucky to get 2 mile range.

Of these options I would recommend a quality 40 channel CB with SSB (single side band)capability. SSB is a mode of transmission that concentrates the outgoing power in just one side band and suppresses the carrier and other side band which enables the transmitter to have three times the output power of a garden variety AM CB set.

Another more reliable solution for short range (up to 50 miles) communication is the 2 meter Amateur Radio FM handie talkie. The problem with these radios is they require an FCC License to operate legally. A "Technician Class" amateur radio license (needed for 2 meter FM) is fairly simple to obtain. All that's needed is a study guide (readily available through ARRL) some study time and the successful completion of a 35 question multiple choice exam.

Phone and power outages with no foreseeable chance of restoration is a very different problem. In my opinion a modern High Frequency ham radio would be the best option for both short and long range reliable communication. HF (high frequency) sets usually span from just above the AM radio band to about 30mhz.They can also be used to monitor short wave broadcasts from FEMA and other agencies.

You will need to pass a more advanced Amateur Radio Exam in order to transmit legally on these radios.

Any radio you acquire will also need a matching antenna.

Antenna Matching

Most transmitters, with the exception of the hand held variety that come with an already attached antenna, need the antenna matched to the feed line and transmitter.

The lower the transmitting frequency the longer the antenna. Transmitting antennas in the AM radio band are 300ft. long. CB radio antennas are around 8 ft. long. If the antenna isn't matched properly to the transmitter, part of the outgoing power will be reflected back to the final stage in the transmitter where it could burnout the final amplification stage. (that's a bad thing)

The formula for a half wave dipole (a simple transmitting antenna) is "freq in megahertz divided by 468 equals length of the antenna in feet. " A quick search on Google will give you many home brew antenna building plans.

After constructing one of the above antennas you will need to check the SWR (standing wave ratio) of the antenna to make sure its matched properly with the transmitter and feed line. This procedure is easily done with an inexpensive SWR meter, found at any electronics store.

Don't worry about not getting it right the first time. Most modern transmitters have a limiting circuit that will cut power if the antenna isn't matched properly, Thus saving the finals from any damage.
